Mom's Visit
First I have to apologize for taking so long to post. This week has been crazy to say the least. We have had a lot of technical difficulties at work. Since we moved to the new office, things are always messing up.
Anyways, my mom came down for last weekend and we had a great time. Friday night we went out to dinner at a nice Italian place. I had great lobster and seafood pasta.
Saturday we went on a boat tour to see "millionaire Row" and islands around the beach. First we went by Fisher Island. This island is only accessible by boat or helicopter. Mel Brooks, Oprah, Tom Cruise, Andre Agassi, and Stefi Graff are just a few celebrities that live here. The condos start at 2 million and go to 6 million. The amenities on the island are a polo course, golf course, and 18 tennis courts just to name a few. Then we went by South Beach which is the only natural island off of Miami (I did not know this before our tour). Next we went by Star Island where Millionaire Row is. We saw the following celebrity houses here: the house filmed in Scarface, Rosie O'Donnell, Gloria Estefan (when we went by Gloria's house she happened to be outside getting on her jet ski and was very friendly towards us), Shaq, P Diddy, Sylvester Stallone, Al Capone, Robert Vanwinkle aka. Vanilla Ice, the Parker family (Parker Pens), Bob Kuchenberg (the movie the Specialist was filmed here), some pharmaceutical guy, some German guy that I forgot about, and Julio Iglesias. We had a great time touring through the the islands off of Miami.
Sunday we went to see the Broadway play Rent. We all thoroughly enjoyed this play. It is for sure one of the best plays we have seen. We saw that Lion King is coming in April and can't wait to see this. My mom managed to wear us out but we all had a wonderful time.
Our exciting news of this week is that we just got tickets to the first Miami Heat game!!!!! I am very excited to get to go see them play in person. The game is on October 31st and this is when they players will get their rings.
On a side note, I have to post the pictures separately b.c I can't figure out how to get the pictures in between the text like I want.

BORED!
I am sooooo bored right now. It is pouring down rain outside, which made Gilbert and I cancel our plans of playing tennis. Gilbert and I have been "trying" to play tennis. It is really me that trys. Gilbert is good and has played since he was a child, however, I never played before. But I am enjoying it and Gilbert is trying not to get too frustrated with me.
Last night we watched a very good movie which I recommend to everyone, Akleeah the Bee. This has been about the highlight of my weekend so you can see why I am bored. I did clean the house (although I didn't want to) and am doing laundry today. Doesn't this sound like fun. I bet while you are reading this you just wish you could be in my shoes.
My mom comes down on Thursday and I am looking forward to this. I have not seen her since May 1st. We are going to see Rent, which I have always wanted to see. Gilbert and I watched the movie, Gilbert was not fond of. Both Gilbert and I have high expectations for the broadway play.
I recently read a good book, The Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom. I enjoyed this a lot and now am looking for a good read. Anyone have suggestions?

Couldn't Resist
Babysitting!

Well let me first say that Ernesto brought no more rain and wind than a heavy thunderstorm would. We were hoping for a day off of work but we didn't get it. Although we did get to leave early the day before and came in late the following day, this is better than nothing.
This weekend, Gilbert and I had decided to go to Key West for labor day, but the weather had other things in mind. It has been raining ALL weekend and therefore we had to cancel this trip. Instead on Friday night we babysat our nephews. We went and picked them up after work and had them until 1:00 the following day. Friday night we went out to eat and then Saturday morning we went to the park. We all had a lot of fun, but Gilbert and I were so tired afterwards. This was good practice because we want to have kids but boy was I glad that I could give the kids back to their parnets so I could rest. Gilbert and I both laugh about this because we didn't realize we would be so tired.
For the rest of our Holiday weekend we have to clean and do laundry. Doesn't that sound like fun. I seriously am thinking about paying someone to clean the house because I get tired of cleaning each week. We will watch Munich, which is our latest movie from Netflix, hope we enjoy it.

Ernesto
This week has been interesting to say the least and it is only Tuesday! This weekend work was supposed to move into the new office but the building did not pass inspection. Saturday morning we were called in because the moving company came and was taking the boxes. So we were called in only to find out that they had to put all of the boxes on the third floor, when we were working on the second floor so we went home. Don't ask why because for the life of me I can't understand what they were thinking. We finally passed inspection Monday evening. Today, Tuesday, during the storm we were moving stuff to the new office. But we are almost done and will finish whenever we go back to work depending on this storm. We got to go home around 3 and now I am working from home and will do so tomorrow if we can't go in.
People seem to be taking this storm lightly so hopefully we aren't going to get caught off gaurd. However, gas stations are out of gas now and if the happen to have gas the lines are around a 3 hour wait. You can not find water or bread anywhere.
Gilbert and I are as ready as can be. I went to the grocery store with everyone else in Miami last night after work. Other that that we don't have much else to do. We parked out car away from trees just in case and now we will just have to wait and see what happens.
Our life has been boring since our company left. We have been working and that is about it. We were going to the Key West for Labor Day but we will have to wait and see about weather conditions now. Our life will not be exciting until my mom comes in mid September to visit.

More Pictures from Sunday
Pictures from Birthday Party
My Birthday
Well my birthday was yesterday (Tuesday August 8th) but we had a pool party for my birthday on Sunday. It was a lot of fun. I was worried about rain, however, it didn't rain and it was extremely hot that day. Next time we have a party we will have to do it on a Friday or Saturday because I thought I was going to die trying to get out of bed for work on Monday.
I got several Rachel Ray cookbooks for my birthday and I can't wait to use them. I don't know who was more excited about these gifts, me or Gilbert. I also got a nice N.C. State clock. I'm looking for just the right place to put it. Gilbert took me shopping and got me the Shakira CD. Since we had the party on Sunday last night we decided to relax. We had a friend of ours and his wife over and watched a movie, Kicking and Screaming, with Will Ferrell in it. However, we all got tired and could not finish it. Man we are getting old! I wasn't expecting much for my birthday and ended up having a very nice day.

Everglades National Park

We went to the Everglades National Park on Saturday. It is not far from where we live. It took about an hour to reach the park and then we drove through the park to the southern tip, Flamingo visitor Center, where we took a boat tour of the park. I did not realize how big the park is and it takes up most of the south west park of the state.
We took our time driving through the park and got out when we saw trails. We saw this very beautiful grasshopper. Hannah had a little problem with the bugs. It seemed like she was a magnet for them and we had to turn around at one point because she was so agitated. At this point I was laughing at her and had to walk behind her so I would not make her angry.
We enjoyed our boat tour. We learned about the park and saw one alligator. On the way back it started to pour and we all got soaking wet. (Look for the picture of Gilbert wringing out his clothes afterwards)
I have always wanted to go to the Everglades and had a great time. I look forward to visiting other areas in the park soon.

It's been a while

Sorry it has been so long since the last time we posted. We have had a lot of things going on. First, on July 7th we celebrated our 2 year anniversary! It is amazing how fast the first two years have been.
Then my best friend, Stephanie came down to visit. We had a great time. We went to see Pirates of the Caribbean 2. I loved it, of course because of Johnny Depp, but Gilbert did not like it as much as the first one. While Stephanie was here we had a lot of fun going to the beach, dancing, and going out to eat.
Now my sister Hannah is here for the month. We went to see Miami Vice. I liked it although people booed it at the end of the movie. Gilbert says that is because there was not as much action as people wanted. This weekend we were going to Key West but we have postponed it thanks to Tropical Storm Chris, or is it a hurricane now? Anyways, we are having a pool party for my birthday on Sunday, so we are crossing our fingers for no rain. My birthday is Tuesday and I will be 26. Which is not old, however, I feel myself creeping towards 30 and that is scary.
I'm going to try and post some pictures but I have been having trouble b/c of size of the pictures. I will have to make them smaller so I can put more on the website so bare with me. You know I am not computer savvy when it comes to stuff like this.
