Random has found a new place to sleep. He has deserted his dog bed for the dirty clothes pile. He must like the smell better!

Well I made it through the weekend! It was a lot of hard work but definitely worth it. We had great advertising and were able to network. The event was a success and is very important for Haiti. This Summit we sponsored was about promoting tourism to Haiti. In the 80's Haiti was the most popular destination in the Caribbean. Now, Haiti is ready to build up the tourism industry again. I had mentioned earlier that Jeb Bush would be there but he ended up not coming. However, the President of Haiti was there on Sunday and spoke at the luncheon.

So I was staying on South Beach and wouldn't you know that on Saturday when I finished working and was ready to hit the beach, it started pouring and rained through Sunday. I was bummed about this but oh well so is life.

Not much has happened since our last post. We have been working and trying to stay as cool as possible. It is very hot now, I think it was 90 this morning when we left for work. Yes, Gilbert told me it was 91 this morning. Yesterday, Hannah told me that on the news it said Miami was the hottest place in the US because of the humidity.

Last night we watched a nail biter playoff game but the Heat were able to pull through. Just one more win to go and we bring the title home! Tonight we are pulling for the Hurricanes to come out victorious.

I am working this coming weekend. We are sponsoring a conference about increasing tourism to Haiti. On Sunday we close the weekend with a presidential luncheon which our Governor Jeb Bush will be attending as well as the President of Haiti, Rene Preval. This is being held in a hotel on South Beach and I will be staying there for the weekend. I hope I have some time to catch some rays.

Help! I want to change the format of our blog and have no idea how. Someone with experience please give me some pointers.

Giving it a try

Since we moved to Florida, I decided the best way to stay in touch with everyone would be to do the blog thing. So we are going to give it a try.

We moved back to Florida in May. I know you guys must be wondering when we will move again but we are here to stay. We have moved more than we like in the last two years so we are settling down here.

My new job is keeping me very busy but I am enjoying what I do. I am managing a pre-paid long distance company, NOPIN Long Distance www.nopin.us. It seems like every weekend there is an event I have to attend. Last night we went to a cocktail party on Hibiscus Island in South Beach. The event was hosted by the Haitian-American Chamber of Commerce. The purpose of the Commerce is to get Haitian-American businesses involved in the community. We enjoyed feasting on Dolphin breaded in Macadamia nut with mango sauce.

As most of you know Gilbert is a die hard Miami Heat fan so we have been watching the playoffs and cheering the Heat to a victory! When we aren't watching the Heat play we have been watching the World Cup. This has been a new experience for me, I have never really paid much attention to the World Cup. The only time I remember following it was when Tony Meola was playing. However. living in Miami where the population is mainly Latin and Caribbean, the World Cup is very big (bigger than the Superbowl).
