Coconut Grove Art Festival

Gilbert and I went to the Coconut Grove Art Festival this weekend. The weather was a little chilly but the skies were crystal clear. As long as you stayed in the sun the weather was perfect.

Apparently this is one of the nations biggest art festivals. This was the 44th year for this festival. The work displayed was amazing. Hannah you should have been here for this you would have loved it. Below are some pictures of the sculptures. We saw plenty of other amazing artwork but I didn't want to take pictures of the art in the booths. I did not think the artists would have appreciated it.

We also saw OJ Simpson at the festival. There is a picture below. For those of you who do not know he lives here in Miami and his children go to school here. He appeared just to be sitting at the table and allowing anyone to sit with him that wanted to.

Coconut Grove Art Festival Pics

This was one of my favorites.

This bench was very clever. If you are interested in buying it, it was for sale for $29,000.

Dog Whisperer

We have a TV watcher. Maddie loves to watch TV. In the first picture she is watching the Dog Whisperer and in the second picture she is watching a video game. However, her favorite show to watch is the Dog Whisperer. It comes on late at night so she sits on the edge of the bed and just stares at the TV. It is the cutest thing. If you are a dog owner and have not watched this show you need to. What Cesar Millan does is amazing. I wish he would come to my house and help correct the bad behavior we have.

Maddie loves to cuddle with Random, especially on my favorite chair.

Bridal Shower

This weekend I went to a Bridal Shower. It was held at the Rusty Pelican, a very nice restaurant over looking Biscayne Bay. The party had a purse theme as you see above the centerpieces were purses with flower arrangements. I thought this was very clever and I had a great time.

Happy Valentine's Day

I hope that everyone had as wonderful of a Valentine's Day as I did. Gilbert made me believe that he didn't do anything for Valentine's Day, however, when I got to work there was a box of hand picked Godiva chocolate and a basket of Bath and Body Works with my favorite scent, Sweet Pea. I didn't even know that he knew which scent I liked since I have not had it in the house for a long time. Then he told me we had dinner reservations. He had found a Sushi place that was the top Sushi restaurant in Miami. It was very good and we had a wonderful evening. It was nice to be pampered for the evening.

On another note, have you guys been following the Anna Nicole Smith saga? This is unbelievable. When I first heard the news, I was in disbelief. It just seems so weird to me that she died so close in time to her son and in similar ways. That women seemed to be crazy. I read a statement made be her nanny in the Bahamas, when she was fired in December 2006. The nanny said that Anna Nicole Smith made her underfeed the baby because Anna Nicole Smith was obsessed with the baby looking "sexy". Please tell me how does a baby look sexy? The nanny also said that most of the time Anna Nicole Smith was on drugs or medication that kept her in bed or asleep but when she was up and moving her mood swings were out of control and you never knew what she would do. I know not to believe everything I read, but if this is true I feel very bad for that poor baby. You can read the full story here.

N.C. State

Well I have to say how proud I am of my team beating UNC the other night. It is time for State to be on top of the league like they once were so long ago. Too bad we lost our next game to Georgia Tech. Maybe next year will be our year to win the ACC. But I will take beating UNC for now. I saw these pictures on another blog so I borrowed them. Hope you enjoy!

Catch Up

I have not written much on our blog. I will do my best to catch everyone up on what is going on with us. We came back from NC in mid December and we seem to have been super busy, with what I don't know.

In January, Gilbert went on a business trip to the Dominican Republic for a week. He had a good time while he was there but his mean wife sent him with the camera that doesn't work very good. So he was not able to take any pictures.

We had a Super Bowl party at our house. It was very nice and everyone had a great time. The commercials, which is my favorite part of the Super Bowl, were a major disappointment. Gilbert and I did not partake in any of the activities in Miami for the Super Bowl. I felt like I was missing out on something on Saturday by not going to South Beach but then I thought about having to drive well over an hour to get there because of traffic (normally it takes 20 minutes). Once we got there we would have had to spend hours to find parking, if we were lucky to find parking they were charging $100 to park. Then we would have waited hours to get back home. After thinking about the headache I would endour to get on South Beach, I settled on going to the dog park and had a wonderful time.

Sorry to disappoint everyone, but we really don't have exciting news to report. As for the random picture at the top. I have started a new hobby, Orchids. My neighbor has inspired me to try Orchids. My grandmother was very good with them so I hope to follow in her footsteps. Right now I have two in the house and the picture up top is one of them.
